Today is a B-Day.

Congratulations to the WHS Competitive Cheer Team as they captured 3rd Place at the IHSA State Finals today in Bloomington. Awesome job. Very proud of the team and coaches.   We will celebrate their success at the Basketball Game on Tuesday February 11th before the varsity game.  Also, senior night for cheerleading.

Congrats to Logan Van Duyne for winning the IHSA Regional Wrestling 190 lb. bracket this past weekend at Herscher.    Will Wilson advances as well earning a 2nd Place.   Both Logan and Will will wrestle next at the IHSA Sectional on Saturday at Coal City.  Memphis Iwen and Oakley Rivera will be alternates.

Juniors – ACT Prep Class Flyers are available in the Main Office.  Great opportunity to prepare for the April ACT Exam.   The ACT Prep Class will occur in the evenings during March and early April at WHS.   Deadline to register in February 14th.

Seniors!  Local Scholarships are now available in the Guidance office. Stop in and pick up your packet today!  Deadline to apply is Friday February 28th at 3:00 pm.  No extensions on deadline date.

Juniors who are applying for World Affairs Seminar, Boys State or Girls State, should turn in their applications by Wednesday, February 12th to Guidance.  See your email for details.

This month, FORTITUDE is recognizing Random Acts of Kindness.  Please nominate others from WHS who have shown you a special kindness.  Perhaps someone shared their lunch, picked up a dropped notebook or helped you in some other way.  Fill out a green slip and put it in the box in the library or Guidance Office.  Two nominated students will win a Nelly's gift certificate at the end of the month.

Free Tutoring continues for the semester every Tuesday from 3:10-4:10pm.  Tutoring will be available with Ms. Keane for English and Essays, with Mrs. Maupin for Math, and with Mr. Ivanoff for Science.

All students must be parked in their assigned parking spot.  Be sure to pick-up and complete a yellow driver application form in the main office.  Return it along with a $50.00 payment to Krista ASAP.  All students must have their vehicles registered in the main office.

If you are planning on applying to National Honor Society, or for college scholarships in the future, it is important for you to document your volunteer hours and collect supervisor signatures.  Pick up a volunteer log in the Guidance Office. To qualify for National Honor Society, students need at least 50 hours of community service. 

Struggling, Stressed, Sad, Concerned for a Friend, or Just Need Someone to Talk Text To?   Use the Text a Tip Hotline anytime at 1-844-823-5323.  As always, our school counselors are available to talk with you as well.   A note will be sent to your school email later today with more information.

WHS Students:  please continue to monitor your grades thru your Skyward Account.  Please check your school email 2-3 times daily.

The Service Road between WHS and WMS/SIS is Off-Limits to bike riders and walkers before and after school. The service road is for buses only in the morning and afternoon.   Vehicles should not drive on the service road as it is reserved for the School Buses.   No Skateboards on WHS property.

Students driving to and from school day should obey the Speed Limit and Stop Signs.  Especially on Wildcat Court, watch your speed limit.  Please take the responsibility as a driver to follow driving laws.    Please take extra caution with the snow, ice, and wind when arriving and departing.
